Her passion for the sea began in an intertidal biology class. Today she directs the Monterey Bay Aquarium, an institution she and her family founded through a gift from David and Lucile Packard. Their vision was to expand appreciation for the incredible diversity of sea life by focusing on the habitats of Monterey Bay. The aquarium's exhibits and programs reach millions of people, and its scientific programs make important discoveries about Monterey Bay marine life.
